TamaWrap<span class='cotton_plus'></span>® Pink Premium for cotton

TamaWrap® Pink Premium is one of the projects we’re most proud of. It has all the features and benefits of TamaWrap+® Yellow Premium cotton wrap, but with an important added value.

It began with a unique request from a cotton farmer from Missouri USA.
Three years previously, he had tragically lost his beloved sister to breast cancer, at the horrifying young age of 33. Following his tragedy, he had been thinking of ways to honor her memory and raise awareness about the important issue of the early detection and risks of breast cancer and came up with the idea to cover a cotton bale with a pink wrap (the color associated with Breast Cancer Awareness month).

The creative farmer has contacted the Tama group, and we were fully behind the idea! We got our Crop Baling Specialists together to work full steam and provided him, for the first time ever, with the pink cotton wraps, just in time for the 2013 season.

The hard work paid off and by October 2013 the first 15 pink cotton wraps had been produced and were proudly displayed on his farm. The reaction was incredible, and the buzz about the pink cotton wraps started to gain momentum, spreading to other countries and other Tama products, generating mass awareness about the importance of the early detection of breast cancer in farming communities all around the world.

Today, TamaWrap® Pink Premium is one of our best-selling wraps, with a part of sales donated to breast cancer studies and foundations, playing a huge part in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness across the globe, all thanks to one innovative cotton farmer.

To ensure that plastic wrap material meets a minimum acceptable standard, the US cotton industry and USDA-ARS scientists worked with the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) to develop a standard for round module wrap: “Cotton Module Cover Material Performance”.

TamaWrap® Premium Yellow and/or Pink is Approved Round Module Wrap Product Meets ASABE S615.2 Feb 2022 Cotton Module Cover Material Performance Approved List Maintained by the National Cotton Council.

UV radiation damage Protection
UV Protection

Modules wrapped with TamaWrap® can be left outside for a period of up to 6 months.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

Every wrap includes RFID tags to provide the capability to track the individual module through harvesting and processing, all integrated with the electronic systems of the 7760.

Roll ID

Each roll has its own ID number located inside the core, and on the leading edge of the first wrap.
Each TamaWrap® has a unique serial number, located on the metallic label of the wrap.

Installation Mark

Every core is marked on its left hand side by black dots on the core and a label inside the core, to assist correct installation.

The TamaWrap® concept eliminates the constant maintenance and cost of the tarp. A savings in the production cost of the ginning process.

Environmentally friendly - Recyclable

TamaWrap® is recyclable.

Z–LOCK system

Tama’s unique Z-LOCK system provides 4 major benefits:

  1. The Z-LOCK system connects and separates each individual wrap on a roll, so the roll is made of 24 “ready to use” wraps.
  2. The Z-LOCK system assures the next wrap is ready to be fed correctly.
  3. The tapered structure maximizes the durability of the tail in windy conditions.
  4. Two types of specially designed adhesive secure the tail of a wrapped module in tough conditions and minimize the risk of cotton contamination.
TamaWrap® Structure

Every TamaWrap® wrap is made of two segments:

  1. The inner layers are a non-tacky film with particular properties which prevent cotton from sticking to the wrap.
  2. The outer layers are a special formulated film which is tacky on one side only.

The combination of these two types of film ensures that the round module will hold its uniformity for transport and processing.
